| Sunday, 22nd, Day Two, continued... So we drove around a little, untill Dad found this PLACE... I was very confused- and a little anxious, when they wanted me to get out of the car... this building was huge, and it was called "Petsmart" ... all I knew was that it was a BIG store, with all kinds of strangers who wanted to touch me, and meet me, and ask questions about me! Pa did a thing Dad called "going nuts"... all I saw was that he found a LOT of fun-lloking things to buy me! When they came to the register, I had a pretty necklace (which they call a 'collar' at the store) and some t-shirts (I don't know what those are yet, we'll see... they were pretty though!) and a LOT of toys, and chews, and STUFF!! At the cash register, Dad teased Pa, and said he would remind him who did the shopping spree, if he complained about money later. Hah hah! I win again, I think! I got a LOT of neat stuff! Of course... then we got back into that CAR again. I was happy to be in it though, because the store was a very strange place- so many other dogs were there, and even some cats- which I really didn't have any interest in, actually. They were in a room with glass walls anyway, playing around back there, minding their own business too. Dad seemed especially pleased by that, strangely enough. The drive was pretty uneventful. We stopped a couple times, and they had to almost DRAG me out of the car. I was scared to get out! I was afraid they might drop me off, and drive away and never come back!! Then I realized it was just a 'potty stop'. OH. Oops. My bad! I was especially good for that though- I would go when asked, and then RUN for the car! Quick! let me get back in before you drive away again! A few hours later... we got onto this BIG bridge... it crossed the water, and then went through a tunnel. I thought that was pretty cool. I watched, as we came out of the tunnel, and... then there was some city. Wow... cool. I grew up in the country, you know- so when that place called SEATTLE suddenly rose up on the horizon... oh my goodness... I didn't know WHAT to think! I just STARED. I looked kind of intimidated- and Dad mentioned that dogs see details better than humans- so probably as we drove through the city, and I LOOKED up and down those HUGE buildings... probably I could even see the people INSIDE them! I was almost kind of scared- it was so very strange... I was GLAD when we went through that place, and didn't stop! Wow... who would have ever thought? Dad says we'll go there someday, but I don't know... Well we drove some more... untill we got off that thing which is called a 'freeway' I think- and we came to a building that wasn't SO big... and they said this was HOME!! yay!! home!! I was so very happy. Do you know how confusing my first night was? WOW... there was so much to learn about... and I wasn't so sure if /HOME/ meant my forever home... maybe I would have to go to a different home later on? I was a little worried. It made me happier, when They showed me a thing called a 'crate'. It had a blankie in it, and a bowl of water! WOW... my own den!! I loved it right away!! I climbed RIGHT in, and although we did snuggle a little first, I went back inside and laid down, and took a NAP! Dad and Pa laid down right across from it on this neat couch that Pa made into a bed by folding it open... they call it a 'futon'... and they took a nap too! We were HOME... but my Outrageous Adventure was just beginning! Big Bertha |
