A New JOB! - Friday, Apr. 15, 2005
Day 430:

I have been working SO hard, I haven't even had time to post all the things I am doing!

For one thing, I have been learning new tasks, and new things I can do to make Dad's life better! I am so very eager right now, that I am sometimes TOO excited to work!! I get so excited, I am like a big clown! I'm a very happy girl right now!

I am also a much more svelte Big Bertha! I have lost TEN pounds over the last month or two, and I am looking HOT! (I will always be a BIG girl, mind you, because I am a big-boned 'belgian' type of body... but I was fat. When you petted me, you could not find my ribs at all, and rolls of fat moved when you stroked me. *blushes* Now, you can feel where my ribs are, but not SEE them of course! ...and there is hard muscle where there used to be fat! I still have a little extra, but Dad says that's okay, he does too! *hee hee*

I have learned all kinds of neat little tricks to help me learn more tasks. For instance, I have learned to "shake" like other dogs, only Dad asks for my "left" paw or my "right" paw. That impresses people as a trick, but it has a practical use too- Dad might want me to TURN right or left, when pulling a grochery cart or cart or even a wheelchair if it ever came to that! He can tell me which way to walk when we are going in a store, or down the road... and I will know which way he means! Yay!

I have been doing other things too... the other day, I met another of our neighbors. I know her a little, she's from Russia, and I like her voice a lot! But the other day, I met her daughter... she has a disorder that leaves her in a wheelchair and she doesn't really respond much to things. I always watch her like I want to go over, so today, Dad asked if she could pet me!

At first, I wanted to sniff her chair, just in case it moved suddenly- and then Dad told me to give her a kiss. I thought he meant the Mommy, so I gave HER hand a kiss, but Dad said, "no no... here..." and pointed to the little girl's hand, which is very rigid, like a fist.

A little light came on, and when I licked her hand, she looked at me, and I got very excited!! I put my nose under her hand, and I tossed it gently up and put my head RIGHT under it, so she could scratch my ears and pet my head without any help but ME!

I was so very happy to make a new friend, and her Mommy asked if they could have more visits from Big Bertha! I was so happy, I did a little dance!!

Dad says I would make a good therapy dog too, and he might consider taking me to a class to learn that... I love people who are timid or afraid, because I know they won't hurt ME either! I am also kind of timid, you know. I don't realize that everyone ELSE sees a big ol'Rottweiler, and are a-scared... because *I* am too busy being a-scared!

It has been such an interesting time for me!

Another thing that has happened, is that Dad is setting up my OWN Business!!!

Yeah!! I get to sell my paintings, and some work done by Dad AND me together!!! You will be able to come here to my webpage (and maybe even my own domain, if Dad can save enough money for it!!) and BUY my work!! You'll be able to see the things I have been doing, and the things Dad makes FOR me and other dogs... maybe even special things like scarves and frisbees you can buy that will benefit the rescue I came from, or pay for more training for me!

If you are interested in one of the artworks I have already posted (see the "older" link on the left side) Then you can email me at my OWN email address now!!! Untill I have it all set up, just use the "email" link at the left, and it will forward to my NEW email box!! all my very own!

In the meantime, Dad is working on my NEW webpage!!

If you are feeling generous, and would like to make a gift to my webpage by paying for a supergold membership or a domain hosting fee here at Diaryland, I will sent you one of my current Artworks, already framed, FREE!!

With a supergold membership, I will be able to accept comments, and with the domain hosting, I will be able to have a website that all KINDS of people will visit! Wouldn't that be great? Then people would be to see just how artistic a big ol'Rottweiler can BE... and not think of us so much as just big growly dogs. That would be wonderful!
